PADI® Scuba Diver

The PADI® Scuba Diver course is the first half of the PADI® Open Water Diver course. The Scuba Diver course is often chosen when you have too little time to complete the PADI® Open Water Diver course and still want to be certified. Another reason for choosing the Scuba Diver course or resorting to it during a PADI® Open Water Diver course is that you realize that the final performance requirements of the PADI® Open Water Diver course cannot be met.

The PADI® Scuba Diver course is the preliminary stage to the PADI® Open Water Diver course. After completing the PADI® Scuba Diver course, you can tackle the extension to the PADI® Open Water Diver course at any time and only practice the missing parts (if you have not dived for a long time, we may repeat the individual exercises again).

The main differences to the PADI® Open Water Diver course are:

  • Maximum depth 12m
  • You may only dive with a Divemaster, Assistant Instructor or Instructor
  • The next level of training would be PADI® Open Water Diver
  • Not all specialty courses that would be possible from the PADI® Open Water Diver level can be attended

Don't be discouraged. You have taken the first step in your diving career with the PADI® Scuba Diver course and are already a fully-fledged member after completing the course.
