PADI® Introductory Dive - PADI® Discover Scuba Diving
Have you always wondered what it’s like to breathe underwater? What’s behind the next rock, and what does the underwater world look like? Then you’ve come to the right place. Try scuba diving with me with no strings attached and explore a whole new underwater world with no obligation. This course is also a great option if you’re not yet sure whether you want to start the course with me or not. The PADI® Introductory Dive (often referred to as “PADI® Discover Scuba Diving” or “DSD”) is just the thing for you.
A PADI® Discover Scuba Diving experience is not a diving course that leads to a “certification” allowing you to dive with another diver (unless that person is a dive instructor), but rather a quick and easy way to dive into the underwater world with scuba gear and see if this could become your new hobby.

Have you always wondered what it’s like to breathe underwater? If you’d like to try diving but aren’t quite ready for a full course that leads to a “certification” (i.e., a PADI diver’s certification), Discover Scuba Diving (often referred to as a “trial dive”) is just the thing for you. PADI dive centers offer this program either in a swimming pool, in shallow water off the beach, or from a dive boat. You can try scuba diving at a dive center near you or while on vacation. Discover Scuba Diving isn’t a certification course, but rather a quick and easy introduction where you’ll dive a little into the underwater world with scuba gear.
To enroll in a PADI Discover Scuba Diving program, you must be at least 10 years old. You don't need any previous diving experience, but you must be in good health.

You’ll learn the basic safety guidelines and skills needed for diving under the direct supervision of a PADI professional. If you’re doing an open-water dive—for example, in a lake or the ocean—you’ll practice some diving skills in relatively shallow water to prepare for your underwater adventure. Be ready:
- To discuss the diving equipment you'll be using and learn how easily you can move around underwater with it.
- To experience what it feels like to breathe underwater.
- To learn the most important skills needed for diving.
- For fun while swimming around and exploring the underwater environment.
- To explain how you can become a "certified" diver (i.e., a diver with a PADI diver's card) by taking the PADI Open Water Diver course.
